Mississippi road test checklist

What to expect on the Mississippi road test, checked on October 31, 2026. Tick the items as you practise.

Since 2020 Mississippi DPS waives the road test for most new Class R drivers: a parent, teacher or guardian signs an Affidavit for Road Test Waiver (permit held at least one year, at least 50 hours of driving). DPS road tests still apply in some cases, e.g. holders of a foreign license without an International Driving Permit. SB 2695 (effective July 1, 2026) requires a certified driver education course for all first-time applicants from July 1, 2027; the courses include written exams and road tests.
