С 2020 года в Миссисипи большинство новых водителей Class R не сдают вождение в DPS: родитель, учитель или опекун подписывает заявление об освобождении от экзамена (Affidavit for Road Test Waiver) — разрешение было не меньше года и не меньше 50 часов практики. Экзамен в DPS остаётся в некоторых случаях, например для владельцев иностранных прав без международного водительского удостоверения. По закону SB 2695 с 1 июля 2027 года все, кто получает права впервые, должны пройти сертифицированный курс автошколы с теорией и вождением.
