All-Way Plaque
This plaque is mounted under a STOP sign and means that every road entering the intersection has a stop sign. All traffic must stop.
- Shape
- Horizontal rectangle
- Color
- Red background, white letters and border
What to do
Come to a full stop, then go in the order you arrived. If two cars arrive together, the driver on the left yields to the one on the right. Always yield to pedestrians and go carefully if unsure.
Where you see it
Directly below the STOP sign at intersections where all approaching roads have a stop sign. It may also read 4-WAY or 3-WAY.
Test trap
It does not mean that you may go without stopping or that the road with more traffic goes first. Every driver stops, and the first car to arrive goes first.
Memory tip: ALL WAY under STOP: everyone stops, first come, first go.
Practice question
A plate reading ALL WAY under a STOP sign means:
- Every driver at the intersection must stop
- Only the cross street must stop
- Traffic may go through without stopping
- Only drivers who are turning must stop
Answer: A. ALL WAY under a STOP sign means all roads into the intersection have stop signs.
