Hospital Sign

This sign shows that a hospital with emergency services is nearby. It tells you the direction to follow to reach it.

Shape
Square
Color
Blue background, white letter H and border

What to do

Follow the sign and any arrow or exit information if you need medical help or must take someone to the emergency room. Watch for ambulances and for lower speeds and pedestrians near the hospital.

Where you see it

On highways and major roads at the exit or turn that leads to the hospital, and along the route to it.

Test trap

Blue means motorist services, not a warning. Do not confuse the white H on blue with a heliport marking or with a red cross: it only points to a hospital with emergency care.

Memory tip: Blue H: hospital help is this way.

Practice question

  2. Ambulances only may use this lane
  3. A hospital is in the direction shown
