Warning sign · MUTCD W2-6
Roundabout Ahead
A roundabout is ahead. Three arrows chase each other counterclockwise around a central island.
- Shape
- Diamond (square turned on its corner)
- Color
- Yellow background, black arrows and border
What to do
Slow down, watch for the yield signs at the entrance and be ready to give way to traffic already circulating. Enter only when there is a safe gap, keep to the right of the central island and signal when you exit.
Where you see it
On the approach to a roundabout, before the yield line and the splitter island.
Test trap
The sign warns you; the yield rule applies at the entrance, not before it. Drivers often think they must stop or that vehicles entering have priority, but traffic already in the circle goes first.
Memory tip: Arrows go round counterclockwise: slow down, yield, then go.
Practice question
