Emergency Vehicle Sign (Fire Station)

A fire station or emergency vehicle driveway is ahead. Fire trucks or ambulances may enter the road with little warning.

Shape
Diamond
Color
Yellow background, black fire truck symbol and border

What to do

Slow down and watch for emergency vehicles leaving the station. If you see flashing lights or hear a siren, pull to the right edge of the road and stop until they pass. Never block the driveway, even in a traffic jam.

Where you see it

On the road approaching a fire station or other emergency vehicle driveway.

Test trap

Do not confuse it with a hospital or emergency services guide sign. This yellow sign warns that emergency trucks may pull out; it does not mean you must stop unless a vehicle is actually responding. Remember that parking near a fire station entrance is prohibited.

Memory tip: Fire truck on yellow: leave the driveway open.
